Brigadier Iftekhar from GHQ Rawalpindi, took over as new managing director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) here on Saturday.
Brigadier Iftekhar is basically an engineer and serving in Pakistan Army for the last 30 years.
He has also served in the Army's Engineering Corp-5 as the command engineer and is well versed with the problems of the Karachi city.
On arrival at KW&SB head office, Brigadier Iftekhar was welcomed by Acting KW&SB Managing Director Shahid Saleem, who will continue to perform as the KW&SB deputy managing director (planning).
Later, the new KW&SB managing director presided over a meeting in which he was introduced to senior officers and engineers of the Board.
Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier Iftekhar called for improvement in the working of Water Board through dedicated and hard work so that this organisation could be acknowledged by people for its better services.
He said he would also visit various offices of KW&SB during the next two-three days.
