Hospital administration has great importance for trained health managers in Pakistan for proper and effective functioning of health care units.
The major portion of health budget is being spent on the hospitals, where a substantial part of these expenditures is being wasted due to inefficiencies in the system.
The availability of properly trained hospital administrators, at all level in the hospitals and health care centres may greatly benefit to improve the health care provision system, besides helping to reduce the expenditure by bringing down average losses being incurred due to inefficient serving staff.
Shahid Aziz Siddiqi, Vice Chancellor, Ziauddin Medical University (ZMU) expressed these views, while speaking at a seminar on PostGraduate Diploma in Hospital Management (PGDHM) on Saturday.
In this perspective, he said the diploma at ZMU had been proposed as a one-year course and designed for persons working in the middle level management of the hospitals.
VC Ziauddin Hospital said the Hospital Management had become a scientific education, which was vital to cater the growing needs of the customers for finding an amicable solution to their day-to-day problems.
Ziauddin Hospital had the distinction of having four hospitals in Karachi and the participants of the course would be exposed to the different settings.
The faculty is composed of persons qualified in the respective fields with experience of scientific teaching at the postgraduate level.
Inline with its policy of Continuing Education Programme in allied health sciences, Shahid Siddiqi stated that ZMU was adhering to its tradition of producing outstanding professionals in the medical sector.
He said that he was feeling proud in announcing the first PostGraduate Diploma in Hospital Management (PGDHM) of its kind in Pakistan.
