Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Services Corporation (Passco) would purchase 83,000 tons of wheat from Mian Channu tehsil during the current wheat procurement season.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, zonal head deputy director Mian Mohammad Sharif said that sufficient jute bags were being provided to growers to achieve the hundred percent target of wheat procurement.
"As many as 12 procurement centres have already been set up in Mian Channu where wheat is being purchased for Rs 365 per 40 kilograms," he said, adding, "if the government increases wheat prices, the payment would be made to farmers according to new rates."
The deputy director warned hoarders to desist from hoarding of wheat.
