Pakistan People Party Patriots (PPPP) has urged President General Pervez Musharraf to stay in uniform as the national interests, Geo-Strategic and international situation demand to continue the status quo.
The call was unanimously issued by the Patriots during a meeting held under the chairmanship of senior federal minister and minister for defence, Rao Sikandar Iqbal, at his residence on Sunday.
The meeting said that it was owing to the wise and indomitable leadership of President Musharraf that the country had recovered from the shocks of economic and political instability and now it was successfully moving on the path of peace, progress, prosperity and stability.
The situation in the country and said that sectarianism, religious extremism and corruption had been curbed to considerable extent during resolved to make Pakistan an enlightened, progressive and moderate Islamic Welfare state and it was precisely due to these reason that the policies of the president especially his war on terror had won laurels for him at both national and international levels.
In the given circumstances, the meeting agreed, it was essential that the president may continue in uniform which would contribute to the strengthening of stability and integrity of the country.
The meeting expressed confidence over the policies and leadership of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and resolved to continue to support his government.
The meeting said that the present government would continue to complete its term and dispelled all the rumours and speculation in this regard. The participants of the meeting also discussed the unification of various groups of Pakistan Muslim League and applauded the decision of PML.
The meeting expressed the hope that the unification of PML under the president ship of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain would contribute towards the stability of the democratic institutions in the country.
The merger of PP Patriots with PPP Sherpao Group also came under discussion and various modalities in this regard were discussed. The meeting was attended by federal minister and MNAs belonging to Parties groups.
