Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid on Sunday said that investigation into suicide attack on the Finance Minister is in progress and hopefully there would be some breakthrough within couple of days.
Talking to ARY-One television, the minister said, "Some progress into the case has been made from the basic investigations and it is hoped that things would clear within two days".
He said that the suicide bomber in the attack has not been identified as yet but his sketch has been released.
"If there is confirmation about the suicider, the case will be resolved immediately", he added.
The minister said that in a message posted on a web site, an organisation linked with al Qaeda in Egypt has claimed responsibility for the attack.
He said investigation into the statement on web is also continuing.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that investigators are also closely monitoring video clips of the incident.
"We have arrested some persons, but at present we are not in a position to say anything about the case", he added.
He appreciated the efforts of the law enforcement agencies and said they have produced best results with limited resources.
The minister said that many associates of the terrorists have been apprehended by the government, that is why they (terrorists) are reacting.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Rashid, while addressing an election rally here on Sunday asked the people to vote for Shaukat Aziz for sustained socio-economic development in the country.
He said Shaukat is the most suitable candidate for premier-ship as his financial policies have put the economy back on track.
Rashid appreciated the statements made by the notables of the four villages (Rama, Korak, Mohri and Mehllo) for expressing their full support to Shaukat. He asked them to ensure that not a single vote is polled against Pakistan Muslim League's candidate.
The Minister pledged to help in the establishment of a high school for girls and supply of gas to the area. The villagers had expressed the need for these in their statements.
He assured more development work in the area, once Shaukat was elected as the Prime Minister.
The notables of the four villages, including Councillors and elders, assured the minister of their full support to Shaukat Aziz in the forthcoming bye-election.
They also thanked the minister for his efforts in providing electricity and a metalled road in the area.
