Punjab Labour Minister Akhtar Hussain Rizvi has said that under a well-knit plan the 100-bed Social Security Hospitals are being constructed in each major industrial town in the province at a cost of Rs 1.22 billion. Talking to Business Recorder here on Friday, he said that the step has been taken for providing modern health cover to industrial workers and their dependents close to their work place.
He said that the provincial government has formulated a 'Joint Venture Company' in collaboration with business community for promotion of healthy activities and labour welfare projects under the management of industrialists, while the government would finance these projects.
The minister said that another labour colony of 1000 flats would soon be constructed near Sambrial at a cost of Rs 500 million and a 'Labour Complex' on Chawinda-Pasrur road would also be constructed. He said that construction of 100-bed Social Security Hospital at Sialkot was under way which would cost Rs 220 million.
