Enough water is available in two major dams of the country Tarbela and Mangla having 1455.40 ft. and 1095.70 ft. water level respectively to meet requirements in the coming summer season. According to official data released by the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) here on Saturday, water level was recorded 1455 ft. at Tarbela dam, major water reservoir of the country about 85 ft. above than the dead level 1369 ft. having total inflow of 26,900 cusec. The release remained only 15,000 even less than the inflow.
Water level was recorded 1095.70 ft. at Mangla dam, the second largest water reservoir of the country about 56 ft. above the dead level of the dam having total inflow 44,781 cusec.
The release remained 38,000 cusec only to meet the requirement of the province of Punjab.
When a senior official of IRSA was contacted regarding water situation in the country, he said, "We have enough water to meet requirements in the coming summer season." Water inflow in both the dams will improve day by day owing to snow melting process of low peaks from third week of April, the official said.
When asked about the contribution of Kabul and Chenab rivers, he said that water discharge was recorded 28,100 cusec and 22,437 cusec respectively at Nowshera and Marala.
