A new vehicles manufacturing plant would be set up in Karachi with Chinese assistance. The plant would start manufacturing family van by January 2006, light duty truck from January 2007 and cars from June 2008, a private TV reported. First Automobile Group China would invest Rs 1.25 billion which includes nearly 72 percent as cost of the plant.
While 10 percent of total cost would be spent on establishing Pakistan-China Polytechnic Institute and Research Centre with a capacity of providing training to 150 students.
