President General Pervez Musharraf held a telephonic conversation with his Afghan counterpart President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday. Both the leaders discussed matters of bilateral interest as well as developments of regional and international significance. Ongoing co-operation in various fields, including trade and economic, security and communication, came under discussion.
The Afghan leader briefed the president on preparation for the upcoming parliamentary election in Afghanistan, scheduled for September.
President Musharraf assured Karzai of Islamabad's continued support and co-operation in the fight against terrorism. Pakistan condemned this menace in all its forms and manifestations.
The Afghan leader appreciated Pakistan's role in the fight against terrorism.
He said that Afghanistan valued Pakistan's support and assistance. Both the leaders agreed to further increase co-operation in the field of security. There was complete satisfaction on both the sides at the steady growth in bilateral relations.
