Troops rescue over 300 families in flood-hit areas

Over 300 families were rescued by troops of Pakistan Army on the second day of rescue operation in flood-hit areas in the outskirts of Peshawar, Charsadda, and Nowshera. According to a release of the ISPR here on Thursday, the worst flood-hit areas are village Landi Dawoodzai, Tapu Koroona and village Angoor Koroona.
Army joined rescue operation on the request of the provincial government as water discharge rose in Kabul and Swat Rivers. Elements of Infantry, Engineering and Medical Corps have been mobilised to take part in low-lying areas inundated by flood.
The ISPR release said on Wednesday, Army rescue teams shifted around 200 families to safe places while more than 300 families were rescued on Thursday.
More troops have been put on alert to join rescue operation if demanded by the civil administration, the release concluded.
