Indonesian share prices closed 0.95 percent lower Friday on continued profit-taking led by market heavyweights Telkom and Astra, dealers said. The Jakarta Stock Exchange composite index lost 11.237 points at 1,174.090. Volume was 1.32 billion shares worth 1.13 trillion rupiah (115.93 million dollars).
Losers led gainers 59 to 49, with 67 stocks unchanged.
The rupiah was at 9,742-9,749 to the dollar compared to Thursday's 9,740-9,745.
Dealers said state gas and electricity firm PGN gained on expectations that the company will release positive first-half results later this month.
Masindo Artha Securities analyst Andy Lalujan said profit taking hit blue chips Telkom, Astra and Bank Rakyat Indonesia. "They needed the correction so they can rise again," he said, noting the market's recent sustained record-breaking run. Telkom lost 100 rupiah at 5,500 while long distance operator Indosat dropped 100 at 5,600.
Carmaker Astra International was down 250 at 12,350 rupiah while subsidiary United Tractors lost 100 at 4,525.
Bank Central Asia dropped 75 at 3,675 rupiah.
