Thousands of poor and needy people of Tharparkar, Mithi and surroundings areas are being provided free medical treatment by Pakistan Army. According to an ISPR press release issued here on Monday. Military Hospital at Chhor has dedicated every on Wednesday in a week for treatment of the poor and deserving people of Thar Desert areas and the surroundings.
Residents are treated in extremely well-organised medical environment at the military hospital which is fully equipped with latest and modern equipment including X-ray ultra sound, pathological laboratory, operation theatre, physiotherapy centre, dental Surgery and many other necessities.
Medical team comprising of medical specialist, surgeon, gynaecologist, radiologist has treated more then 11,000 patients. The common ailment's which came across included waterborne diseases, malaria, upper respiratory track infection, mal-nourishment and maternal anaemia.
The objective of this free medical treatment is to provide better heath conditions and to bring health and hygiene awareness amongst general public to control viral diseases.
This free medical service is functional since first week of June 6, and will continue on permanent basis. The turn out of patients is around 350-400. Visiting patients are not only treated but are provided with free medicines and follow up of treatment.
Besides this, they are provided with free meals, and transport facility in town, said the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel, Muhammad Akram. "We are thankful to army doctors who are giving us so much of care and concern. We can never forget them," said a local patient Rehman Noohri. Another day free medical camp was organised at taluka hospital Chachro. This free medical camp at Chachro has treated more than 700 locals.
Free medical camp at Chachro was organised to provide better healthcare at the doorstep and was organised in co-ordination with health department of Sindh government and Sindh Rangers. The team treating the locals was comprised of six doctors including two lady doctors and two male doctors of Sindh government.
Serious cases are referred for further investigations to Military Hospital Chhor.
This is also acknowledged that Pakistan Army Medical Battalion of Hyderabad Garrison has treated more then 30,000 people in last year through free medical camps in far-flung areas of Sindh.
