Ukraine's white sugar stocks will cover domestic needs over the two months to the start of the new 2006/07 season and the country requires no imports, producers said on Wednesday.
Ukrtsukor association said in a statement stock totalled 920,000 tonnes as of July 1 while the country needed about 320,000 in the period to September 1. The association said large stocks would prevent significant price changes.
Ukraine produced about 1.9 million tonnes of white sugar from beet in 2005 and plans to increase output to 2.0-2.5 million in 2006 after a rise in sown area and a boost from favourable weather.
