Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced the results of recently conducted Wireless Local Loop (WLL) Operators Quality of Service (QoS) survey conducted in eight major cities across the country.
The implementation of limited mobility by WLL operators was also checked, according to PTA. The QoS survey was conducted from September 15-25 by all PTA Zonal Offices simultaneously in eight major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, Faisalabad and Hyderabad to gauge the quality of WLL service.
The Limited Mobility aspect of WLL service was also surveyed as per PTA's Determination on Limited Mobility. The operators checked included PTCL-V, Telecard (GoCDMA), Grat Bear and Worldcall. Survey was conducted within the network of the operators and with other networks that included PTCL, Mobile Operators and all other WLL.
Results of service accessibility within network show that V PTCL was 98.33 percent, Telecard (Ge CDMA) was 74.52 percent, World Call was 87,08 percent and Dialog (Grat Bear) was 90 percent. Similarly, with other networks V PTCL showed 87.92 percent results while Telecard (Go CDMA) was 81.14 percent, World Call was 82.12 percent and Dialog (Great Bear) was 96 percent.
V PTCL is operational in eight cities, which are Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad, Peshawar and Quetta, Telecard (GoCDMA) in seven cities including Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad, Peshawar and Quetta, World Call in four cities of Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Peshawar, Dialog (Grat Bear) is operational only in Rawalpindi/Islamabad.
In the survey it was observed that WLL operators are not strictly following the determination on limited mobility. Therefore, they have been asked to take immediate action to implement the same and submit a compliance report to PTA by December 15.
