With a view to making students of madaris financially independent by providing them jobs in public or private sectors, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) has embarked on a plan to establish as many as 100 technical training centers (TTCs) at Madressahs in Punjab.
A spokesman of Tevta said here on Friday that this move would enable the youth engaged in religious education to have more options for sustainable livelihood and to meet the needs of skilled workers.
A Technical Training Center at Al-Khalil Quran Complex, Markazi Madressah Darul Tajveed-o-Hafiz-ul-Quran, DAV College Road, Rawalpindi has been established by the Authority in which male students have already been enrolled in mobile repairing & electronic equipment repair while female students have been registered for machine embroidery & domestic tailoring courses.
According to the spokesman, Tevta was following its mandate to up-grade the standard of technical education and vocational training in the province. For implementing the plan to set up 100 technical training centers in these Madressahs, handsome amount is required.
Tevta has already set up model technical training centers at Jamia Islamia Trust at Kamoki and Madressah Jamia Ghousia Mehria for Boys and Girls at Lodhran as pilot projects.
Short courses, having duration of 3 to 6 months, including electronic equipment repair, machine embroidery, domestic tailoring, mobile phone repairing, CCA, electrical wiring, tractor operator, R&AC, electrical motor winding, welder, wireman, hand embroidery, auto electrician, tailoring & dress making, auto mechanic and fabric printing would be offered at these centers according to the requirement of the area concerned. This practice would continue for the whole year, the spokesman added.
He said the management of Tevta was now contacting the Madressahs through district managers in the province so that target could be met to finalise the venues to set up technical training centers.
Tevta would be responsible for providing machinery and equipment, furniture, training material, teaching and non-teaching staff for running the feasible courses. Certificates would be awarded to the students on successful completion of their courses. Madressahs management would ensure the required enrolment for each course. It would also enhance the quality education in Madressahs.
