Punjab Ombudsman has directed Director General, Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHTPA) Rawalpindi, to refund an amount of Rs 42,912/- to the complainant withheld by the department for the last 17 years.
The complainant, Aziz Ahmad Mughal, contended that he was allotted one kanal plot in the Housing & Physical Scheme, Rawalpindi, but was not given possession of the plot. The area of the plot, however, at site was 17.5-marla as against the standard size.
The complainant requested the Mohtasib to direct the department to allot him another 3-marla plot in some other scheme or to refund him an amount of Rs 42,912/- deposited in excess. The ombudsman, while issuing necessary directions to the department, observed that delay in the settlement of the complainant's claim was due to negligence of the officials of the department, which amounts to maladministration.
