PBC asks Chief Justice to ensure safety of Dr Qadeer

The Punjab Bar Council (PBC) has called upon the Chief Justice of Pakistan to ensure care of health, liberty of moment to Dr Qadeer Khan and take suo motu notice directing the authorities for his medical check up.
The bar Vice Chairman, Mohammad Azhar Chaudhry, while addressing the bar members in the presence of the Chief Justice Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that Dr Qadeer is nation's hero whose efforts made Pakistan defence invincible. He said that people of Pakistan and the bar members are proud of Dr Qadeer, but have apprehensions about his health.
He asked the Chief Justice to make sure the protection of health of Dr Qadeer along with safety of his life as well as liberty of movement.
The bar vice chairman also requested the chief justice to avoid imposing fines on the bar members, which discourages them from performing their professional duties.
The chief justice while commenting on his speech observed that the bench never imposed fines in an arbitrary manner. He, however, urged the bar members to come ahead to assist the court in provision of cheap fair and speedy justice to the poor people of Pakistan.
