Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (Parc) Chairman Dr M.E. Tusneem has said the transfer and commercialisation of technologies will bring radical changes in agricultural sector by meeting new demands in knowledge dissemination for end-users.
He was addressing the agricultural scientists in the concluding session of the five-day international Workshop on "Best Practices of Agricultural Technology Transfer and Commercialisation."
The workshop was organised by Parc in collaboration with the Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), the National Productivity Organization (NPO), and the Agricultural Linkage Program (ALP).
Dr Tusneem said the demand-driven agricultural economy with a well-designed developed research, extension, education linkage, and marketing system could sustain the farming community to bring prosperity in the country.
He said the agricultural extension was taking on new dimensions because of global changes. The development of public and private partnership would play a vital role in the commercialisation of technologies, he added.
He said if all the participating countries collaborated in IPR sector, they could enjoy common interests in the sub-continent in common products like Neem, sea buckthorn and other medicinal plants.
The Parc chief appreciated the organisers and collaborative agencies for arranging successful workshop on modernising agriculture extension.
