No dialogue or peace efforts between India and Pakistan could bear fruits until New Delhi put an end to brutal violations of human rights and end state terrorism in the Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK), Professor Muhammad Ashraf Saraf, senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), AJK chapter, said here on Monday.
He was addressing a protest demonstration, the APHC held outside the UN Military Observers Group, on the occasion of Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Hurriyat leaders Dr Abdul Aala, Tahir Masood, Abdul Hameed Lone, Altaf Bhat and Dawood Khan also addressed the protest demonstration. Saraf said that people of India and Pakistan should come forward and force their leaders to take positive steps for the solution of longstanding Kashmir issue. But, Indian writers should make efforts to stop human rights violations in Kashmir.
APHC leaders, in a memorandum addressed to UN Secretary General, demanded of the United Nations to take stock of the worsening human rights situation in Kashmir and force India to stop brutal violations of human rights and state terrorism there. United Nations should use all its resources to implement its resolutions on Kashmir and force India to respect the human rights declaration and other resolutions of the world body.
