The religious minorities of Pakistan warmly welcome the verdict of Supreme Court to reinstate Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and quash the Presidential reference.
Shahbaz Bhatti, Chairman All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (Apma), said that the verdict of Supreme Court is widely hailed by entire nation as the decision by the Supreme Court of Pakistan is historical and stepping stone for the independence of judiciary. It has enhanced the image of Judiciary and restored the trust of people upon it. He said, "Apma on behalf of all religious minorities of Pakistan applauds the prudence and wisdom of Supreme Court Judges that have saved the country from anarchy and revived the glory of judiciary."
He admired the lawyer's fraternity, political parties, NGO's, media and general people of Pakistan who stood up for truth and collectively struggled for the supremacy of constitution and independence of Judiciary.
Bhatti said that the reinstatement of Chief justice has brought a message of hope for the oppressed and marginalised communities. We are optimistic that Chief justice will continue to protect the rights of downtrodden, victimised including minorities and women and provide them easy access to justice. He said that the struggle for independence of Judiciary, restoration of democracy, acceptance of freedom and liberty of individual, a free media and rule of law are inseparable.
