Iran and the United States agreed to set up a panel to help improve security in Iraq, the US ambassador to Iraq said on Tuesday. Ryan Crocker, speaking from Baghdad after holding a second round of talks with his Iranian counterpart on the worsening security situation, said details of the new committee including when it would meet and who would attend will be worked out in the next few days.
"If the Iranians are prepared to line their practice up within," Crocker said in a teleconference with reporters. The first round of talks on May 28 had ended a long diplomatic freeze between the two countries.
