Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce, Co-operation, Transport and Labour Muhammad Adil Siddiqui has said that Landhi Kidney Centre, constructed at a cost of rupees one billion, will be inaugurated on Friday (September 7).
Speaking at a dinner hosed by Shaikh Manzar Alam on Tuesday in honour of S.M.Munir, who was nominated for "Sitra-i-Imtiaz," he said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, with the approval of cabinet, had handed over the Kidney Centre to Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (Sessi).
He said that this centre would provide kidney transplantation and dialyses facilities. The minister said that Sindh Small Industries Corporation (SSIC), which was suffering huge losses, had now become a profit-making organisation. The corporation was revamped with an investment of rupees nine billion, he said, and added this was the first time in the history that the government was completing its five-year tenure.
Adil Siddiqui said that the government policies had started yielding positive results and now Pakistan's image had been improved considerably in the eyes of world business community.
He assured the business community that the government was prepared to solve all their genuine problems, and said the provincial government was taking appropriate measures to provide the business community a tension and problem-free environment.
He also lauded S.M.Munri services to the business community. Speaking on the occasion, S.M.Munir praised the government for resolving the business community's problems on priority bases.
He recalled that some time ago no file moved from one table to other without greasing the palms of the officials in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and other government offices. Now the change was visible and the businessmen were getting refund cheques at their homes. Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) Chairman Masood Naqi said the government policies had played important role in changing the attitude of bureaucracy.
Former Kati Chairman Abdul Hasib Khan thanked the government for nominating S.M.Munir for Sitra-i-Imtiaz, and added that he deserved this honour. Welcoming the guests, Shaikh Manzar Alam noted that in all the Kati welcome addresses presented since 1985 were full of demand and problems. Now the position had changes and development work in Korangi area was in full swing, he added.
