Hangama Mobile, India started its services in Pakistan as this is the largest growing mobile phone market in the world, said Saleem Mobhani, CEO, Hungama Mobile, India on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference along with Qazi Fakhir Jamil, CEO, Converge Technologies (Pvt) Ltd and Imran Ahmed - Emu of Fuzon (prominent musical group), he stated that this market is poised to grow manifold by the year 2010.
Saleem Mobhani. who is also CEO, of FM India is currently on a visit to Pakistan on an invitation from Converge Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, their strategic partners in Pakistan. "India and Pakistan share culture and a number of other societal attitudes. Music being one of them," he said.
Pakistani and Indian showbiz and Music celebrities are equally popular in both the neighbouring countries, he said and added that so they share the mobile phone content, which has interest for the people of both the countries.
He further stated that collaboration between Converge Technologies (Pvt) Ltd and Hungama Mobile, India was to form a common platform to provide security to the Artistes of both India and Pakistan to get theirs due share of profit out of what they had produced in the form of Music or any other form of entertainment such as Drama, Movie, Award Programme etc. Replying to a question, he informed that while developing mobile phone content for the people of the subcontinent, living anywhere in the world, the rates are kept quite affordable so that the users could take the advantage of low rates. He opined that this could help arrest spread of piracy in that sector.
Qazi Fakhir Jamil, CEO, Converge Technologies (Pvt) Ltd stated that Pakistani content finds a growing market not only in Pakistan but all around the world particularly in the Middle East, Europe and America. As Pakistanis living around the world like to down load that content.
He disclosed that other than the content in Urdu, the same in the regional languages such as Pushto, Sindhi and Punjabi was also very popular as the artistes of these languages were equally popular among the people. He expressed his common resolve with Hungama Mobile, India to uproot piracy in the country by providing quality content to the people at an affordable price.
Imran Ahmed, Emu of Fuzon shared his excitement on the emergence of Converge Technologies as also their strategic partnership with Hungama Mobile, India.
He informed that initially they had to educate the artistes community of the benefits of development of legal mobile phone content but now the artistes have got fair idea of the same. He hoped that more artistes will be joining them in this drive as they have realised the benefits of the legally protected business through the mobile phone content.
