British MP Lord Nazir on Tuesday claimed that Nawaz Sharif did not sign any document pertaining to his deportation following his arrival from London on Monday. "I have submitted my affidavit as an independent observer in this regard," he said while talking to journalists here.
He said the House of Lords and Labour Party had a tradition of projecting issues of injustice in the world to bring back democracy and rule of law. "I do not want to become a party to this issue. But having my roots in Pakistan, any issue regarding chaos is a matter of concern for me," he added.
He said: "I do not have any political motive as I have no association with any political party. I accompanied Mian Nawaz Sharif as an independent observer and will also accompany Benazir Bhutto on her return." While talking about the US role in this matter, he said it would foster anti-American sentiments.
"This is a matter of rule of law and promotion of democratic culture in Pakistan but the US has failed to respond positively," he added. According to him, Nawaz Sharif did not express any desire for return to Saudi Arabia.
"The officials had already decided to abduct him upon his arrival as hundreds of commandos and officials tried to snatch him from us. After that we encircled him in order to give him protection," he added.
"Nawaz Sharif's deportation has shown that the present regime lacks the ability to hold talks in order to find a solution," he concluded. He criticised the Saudi intelligence agencies for their alleged role in sending Nawaz Sharif back to Jeddah.
