The 59th death anniversary of father of the nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was observed with great respect and reverence across the country. A Quran Khwani was held after Asr prayers at the Faisal Masjid, Islamabad which was arranged by Nazria Pakistan Council to pay homage to the man, who carved out the independent Muslim homeland of Pakistan.
Large numbers of public both men and women thronged to Faisal Masjid to read from the holy Quran as well as bless the memory of the founder of the nation. Ambassadors of Egypt, Iran, Libya, Oman and Yemen also attended function. The lady Ambassador of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) joined the women audiences.
Former foreign minister Abdul Sattar, on the occasion said that work on the construction of Aiwan Quaid-i- Azam would start soon at F- 9 Fatima Jinnah Park. This facility is being created to promote research on the Quaid-i-Azam, he added.
Nazria Pakistan Council's chief Zahid Malik revealed that he was trying to add an Arab House, next to Aiwan Quaid-i-Azam. When completed, the Arab House would carry the flags of all Muslim countries to demonstrate the unity of Muslim Ummah, he noted. 'The time has come for Muslims to get united otherwise we might sink,' he remarked.
