The Japanese Automotive Experts of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) has up-graded 36 auto vendor units in Pakistan in the past 18 months.
Experts have provided consultancy services on voluntary basis under Smeda-JICA Industry Support Programme, which is being run jointly by government of Pakistan and Japan. This was revealed during the presentation of the up-gradation project of Mecas Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, which was held at the company's office.
Chief Executive Officer Mecas Engineering Muhammad Wasim Khalid appreciated Smeda and JICA for conducting the up-gradation projects for the Auto Vendor industry of Pakistan. He was of the view that such programmes can change the working environment and thinking pattern of the industry stakeholders and workers.
The layout of Mecas Engineering has been designed by the Japanese expert Kiyoshi Yoshida, which will reduce the covered area and travel distances to enhance productivity. Kiyoshi Yoshida, JICA Automotive Expert, Muhammad Wasim Khalid, CEO, Mecas Engineering, Fayyaz Ahmed Riaz, Deputy General Manager, SMEDA, Muhammad Akram, Manager Development, Mecas Engineering and several senior officials also attended the meeting.
