Pakistan Army Air Defence conducted their annual practice fire exercise in the semi-desert Khudai Ranges near Muzaffargarh on Friday. According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, Commander Army Air Defence Lieutenant General Ashraf Saleem visited the area and witnessed the fire power demonstration of anti-aircraft guns and short-range surface-to-air missile fire.
General Officer Commanding Air Defence, Major General Tahir Ali, was also present on the occasion. The personnel of Army Air Defence demonstrated their shooting skills by targeting drones at different altitudes. The precision and accuracy in the marksmanship with surface-to-air Anza-II missile, 37 mm calibre, 35 mm Oerlikan and 57 mm radar-controlled guns was greatly appreciated.
The aim of the exercise was to provide live fire experience on Air Defence guns and short-range missiles under near-tactical environment and handling of weapons and equipment during firing.
Talking to the troops, Lieutenant General Muhammad Ashraf Saleem lauded the precision and agility of the gunners and said that the professional standard attained by them gives him confidence that they are fully geared to shoulder the responsibilities of national defence designated to them. He said that morale and training played a vital role in honing the fighting spirit of the Army, and that he was impressed by the high level of motivation and professionalism of the Air Defence personnel.
