The Lahore Businessmen Association for the Rehabilitation of Disabled (Labard) is holding its annual fund raising dinner today (Wednesday). The fund-raising function, which would be attended by city elite, business leaders and top government functionaries in an annual event of the Labard and its sole purpose, is to generate funds for the welfare of the disabled persons.
The association, working under the patronage of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is providing free of cost services to the disabled persons. It also provides training facilities and arranges job placement for the disabled persons. The association has already provided training to 1282 disabled people while 1550 were provided jobs in various organisations. It is also providing Cornea transplant facility to the blind and to date, 187 blind benefited from the facility while interest free loan facility (Qarz-e-Hasna) was extended to 311 persons.
