Norwegian government has provided $45 million as technical assistance for Maternal Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) project in Sindh. The Department for International Development (DFID) has provided pounds 90 million for the MNCH project.
Similarly Unicef is striving to mobilise funds from CIDA amounting to $60 million for technical assistance for Balochistan for the MNCH project. It was announced by Hilde Frafjord Johnson, deputy executive director of Unicef during a meeting with Health Minister Mir Ijaz Hussain Jakharni here on Tuesday.
The minister apprised the visiting Unicef official and said that Benazir Bhutto gave top most priority to health and education and we being followers of Benazir Bhutto would continue her policies in the country. He appreciated the support and contribution of Unicef for health sector in Pakistan, particularly, for child survival, maternal health, immunisation especially polio, water and sanitation problems.-PR
