The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Tuesday granted licences to 10 new satellite television channels, which include the country's First satellite TV channel for health-related services. Besides this, another TV channel for kids has been granted landing rights.
It was finalised in the 51st meeting of the Authority here, according to a press release. Pemra Chairman presided over the meeting. Members included FBR Chairman, PTA Chairman, and Secretary Information.
For promotion of education, two more educational institutions (Hazara University, Mansehra and Ziauddin University, Karachi) have been granted non-commercial FM radio licences, in addition to previously granted 15 FM licences for educational purposes. Furthermore, 145 new cable TV licences for all over the country have been approved by the Authority. -PR
