The student community in federal capital is facing shortage of boarding facilities, which are creating problems for them to concentrate on their studies in proper and required manner. Universities operating in the city have not sufficient capacity to accommodate all students coming from other parts of the country and abroad.
Official sources of Islamic International University Islamabad told newsmen on Wednesday that a number of hostels for male and female students were available. But, it was difficult to accommodate all students, while preference was given to foreign students whenever any seat came vacant, they added.
"Admission in the university doesn't confer the right to admission in the hostel. Overseas students and students from outside Rawalpindi/Islamabad are given preference," they observed.
A NUML student Nadeem said he was struggling for the last two years to get hostel facility in the University but couldn't succeed. The NUML has three hostels one for foreign students, one for girls and one for boys. He said he did not feel comfortable while living in private hostel as atmosphere of any private hostel did not suit students, which was completely disturbing.
