Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has finalised names of expected ministers for parliamentary committees and standing committees' heads in Punjab government and the selected ones are likely to take oath after Eid-ul-Azha.
President, PPP Punjab, Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan told Business Recorder that the expected ones are already short listed and a final decision is likely to be taken in a day or two, which would be forwarded to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership in Punjab under the coalition agreement between two parties in the province of Punjab.
"We have short listed our members in Punjab assembly for ministership and heads of provincial parliamentary as well as standing committees and a final touch will be given to the process in a day or two," he said. He added, "PPP was sincerely following the principle of coalition rule in Punjab and no one would be allowed to part our ways in Punjab."
According to some PPP members the issue has already been delayed extraordinarily, which has created doubts in PPP circles about the sincerity of PML-N leadership towards coalition set up in the largest province of the country. According to him, the PML-N was bound to extend 40 per cent power sharing to PPP in Punjab set up as per understanding under the coalition agreement.
It may be noted that a war of words ignited recently between second line of leadership on both sides over an amazing initiative of the Governor Punjab Salman Taseer seeking explanation from Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on administrative matters through official letters issued from Governor House. Responding strongly the PML-N leadership said that the governor was not supposed to seek any kind of explanation from provincial government.
However, the PPP leadership is dispelling the impression simultaneously that the Governor Punjab is sending letters to Punjab Chief Minster on behalf of PPP by exercising his Constitutional rights. Moreover, some PPP hawks gave impression that the Governor may also dissolve the provincial assembly in case the PML-N fails to share the power with PPP in Punjab.
