Babar, Hasan on verge of creating history
Batsman Babar Azam and pacer Hasan Ali are inching closer of creating history as they will be in action against Sri Lanka today (Wednesday).
The duo have been in sublime form since the start of ODI series. Babar Azam bought up two back to back tons while Hasan bagged four wickets so far in the series.
In the second ODI, Babar broke several records, as he became the only batsman to score five consecutive centuries at UAE. The middle order batsman is also the fastest to reach seven ODI centuries, with 33 innings, breaking the record of Proteas great Hashim Amla with seven tons in 41 ODI innings.
And now the 23-year-old is closing to another record, only if he scores a ton today. If he scores a century in 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka, he will become the only batsman to score three consecutive centuries twice. He will also earn the top spot in ODI ranking which will also be the quickest by any player.
The current record belonged to former Indian skipper MS Dhoni, who achieved it in 2008.
Meanwhile, Hassan Ali is also inching close to 50 ODI wickets. He has currently dismissed 46 batsmen in just 23 matches. He could break Waqar’s record of quickest to 50 ODI wickets.
Pakistan great Waqar Younis is the fastest bowler to complete 50 ODI wickets. He achieved this feat in just 26 innings.
