PIA spokesperson said here on Thursday PIA management welcomed the meeting of representatives JACPIA (Joint Action Committee of PIA Employees) with Rehman Malik. He said that the meeting between Rehman Malik and Representatives of JACPIA was positive.
The convenor of JACPIA and President PALPA, Captain Sohail Baluch has agreed that the protesters will not forcefully stop employees from performing their duties. It was also agreed that a separate place would be allocated to them for conducting peaceful demonstrations and violence will not be resorted to. Keeping in view the decisions jointly announced after the meeting and to mitigate the suffering of the passengers PIA is making all efforts to resume its flight operation.
In this regard flights are expected to resume soon and PIA will also try to resume its flights from all stations. It is hoped that employees will not be stopped from performing their duties as agreed between Captain Sohail Baluch and Rehman Malik. It is expected the convenor of JACPIA would have communicated this decision to protesting employees.
At least 200 flights to/from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and other stations were cancelled due to the strike which has caused extreme inconvenience to our valued passengers besides a loss of over Rs 1 billion. He further stated that 7 aircraft were stranded at Islamabad airport due to the strike which resulted in consequential delays and cancellations.
PIA spokesperson further stated that no agreement or MoU was signed between PIA and Turkish airlines. He also refuted the rumour stating that MD PIA has been asked for resignation and termed it as baseless and misinformation. We do regret the discomfort and inconvenience caused to the esteemed passengers who could not fly on their booked flights and thank them for their patience and understanding, he concluded.-PR
