To ensure management of commercial banks here, Capital Police have agreed to take collective measures to ensure effective security at the banks to avoid dacoities and robberies. The decision was made in a meeting, held here on Monday, between the Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Bani Amin Khan and top officials of various banks of the capital.
SP City, Muhammad Ilyas and other concerned police officials were also present on the occasion. During in the meeting, the IGP urged the management of the banks to ensure installation of close circuit television (CCTV) cameras and accurate security alarms in their banks. He also said that at-least two gunmen should be deployed at each bank with firing practice once a month, he added. He said that effective arrangements should be made for transferring money from the bank or into the bank and install ATM machine away from the bank to minimise possibility of any dacoity.
The IGP also held meeting with the office bearers of various housing societies and discussed with them security arrangements in their areas. He said that barriers should be installed and issuing of slips system to be restored to check incoming and outgoing vehicles. He also asked to identify some place between Sama Society and PWD Society for establishing a police station.
He advised suggested both the banking administration as well as office bearers of housing societies to recommend retired army men for services with them whose transportation, uniform and duty timings will be the responsibility of Islamabad police and salary liability of banks and housing societies.
