At least three persons including an activist of Muttahida Organising Committee (MOC) and a Lyari gangster were fallen prey to the spate of targeted killings in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis on Saturday. According to police and rescue sources, an activist of MOC was shot dead at A B Seena Lane in the jurisdiction of Brigade police station.
Police said the victim, who was identified as Rao Gulsher, 50, son of Naimatullah, was assaulted by two armed riders when he was sitting near his plastic godown located at Gulshan-e-Zahoor. They said that the deceased received six bullets at different parts of body and succumbed to his injuries on spot. The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy. Following the said incident, tension prevailed in the locality where all shops and markets were closed. Later, heavy contingent of police and paramilitary rangers were deployed to avert any untoward incident. Police suspected that he might have been killed over political ground. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A bullet-riddled body of one of the Lyari gangsters was found from Khadda Market in the limits of Kalri police station. Police said the deceased, who was identified as Faisal, alias Lamba, 28 and a resident of Baghdadi area, was close aide of Lyari gangster Wasiullah Lakho.
SHO Safdar Mashwani said they had found his body at Abdullah College street near Khadda Market and added that he received seven bullets at different parts of the body. He said the victim was the gunman of Lyari gangster Wasiullah Lakho. Moreover, Mashwani said the victim, who escaped during Lyari operation, was kidnapped when he returned to his home on Friday. Later, the kidnappers killed him and threw his body at the said place.
He suspected that Lyari gangsters might have involved in his killing and his runaway during Lyari operation might have been the reason of his killing. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities and later handed over to his uncle. He said the victim was nominated in several criminal cases including, murders, attempt to murders, extortion's and others.
A case was registered against unidentified men on the complaint of victim's uncle. Yet another two-day old body of youth was found near C-1 area graveyard Liaquatabad in the limits of Super Market police station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained while police found the body from Naddi situated near C-1 area graveyard.
SHO Mumtaz said the victim received single bullet on his head and added that the deceased, who wore Shalwar Kameez, apparently looked Baloch. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for post-mortem and later moved his body to Edhi Morgue till identification. An FIR was lodged against unidentified men on the complaint of state.
