Corrupt politicians may resort to a confrontation with the Supreme Court to hide their misdeeds, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said on Saturday. The country, he said, was passing through a critical juncture as innocent people were being sent to prison while looters and plunderers were sitting in parliament, refusing to accept the verdict of the superior courts.
"They [legislators] are busy in passing resolutions against the apex court verdicts for proving a convict prime minister as innocent, which the nation will never accept," he maintained. He said that problems of all people living in the country, irrespective of their religious affiliations, should be resolved without any discrimination.
The PTI chief said that his party stood for religious harmony and would continue to promote religious tolerance and peace. After the apex court exposed the corruption's of the ruling government, he added, the rulers started unifying on a single-point agenda, which was to hide their corruption in the name of saving the so-called democratic system. Speaking at a convention of all Pakistan minorities alliance, the PTI chief said that his party, if voted into power, would give minorities' right as defined by the founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
