A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) on States and Frontier Regions held on Friday with Sajid Hussain Turi, MNA, in the chair at Secretariat Islamabad under following agenda: The Committee was briefed by the Secretary Planning & Development, Fata Secretariat on the Annual Development program (ADP) 2008-09 in detail.
The Secretary informed the Committee regarding the improvement of existing infrastructure and construction of new roads and bridges to improve connectivity. He informed about special emphasis on social sector delivery through up-gradation and removal of deficiencies from education and health sector, drinking water etc. He also briefed about sequence of events, salient features of ADP 2008-2009, number of schemes, agency vise allocation-Fata and synopsis of new schemes etc.
The Committees was also briefed about the Fata Disaster Management Authority on IDPS of Fata issues. The representative informed the Committee about the current situation of Fata IDPs regarding total registration of families returned up to May, 2012 in the Agencies, list of assistance being provided in displacement, head wise estimated expenditures of returns in Fata, provision of shelters to returnees and hosing uniform assistance subsidy project in Bajur and Mohmand agencies etc in detail.
The committee was apprised by Secretary that the Projects/ Schemes in Fata areas had delayed due to the late releasing of funds by the Ministry of Finance and he sought the support of the Committee hi this regard. The Committee has decided to send its recommendation to the Ministry of Finance to ensure the availability of funds in time to complete the on-going schemes in stipulated time.
The meeting was attended by Engineer Shaukatullah, Federal Minister and MNAs Jawad Hussain, Engineer Muhammad Tariq Khattak, Noor Alam Khan, Murtaza Javed Abbassi, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Pervaiz Khan Advocate, Lieutenant General Abdul Qadir Baloch (Retd), Abdul Malik Wazir and Dr lmtiaz Sultan Bukhari and senior officers from the Ministry, Fata Secretariat and its attached departments were also present in the meeting.-PR
