FPCCI delegation led by Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani, President FPCCI meets the Council of Saudi Chambers and Riyadh Chamber of Commerce. A high-ranking delegation of Pakistan's leading businessmen under the leadership of President FPCCI called on the Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers at the CSC Head Office in Riyadh on May 19, 2012 to discuss opportunities for further commercial ties between the two countries.
In his inaugural address, the President FPCCI thanked CSC for co-ordinating with FPCCI for the visit of the delegation to Saudi Arabia. He emphasised the need for greater communication between the businessmen of the two countries. In this respect, he recalled that the Pak-Saudi Joint Business Council had been dormant since 2005, and its reactivation was essential for furthering our existing economic relations. He also requested facilitation from CSC for opening FPCCI's office in Riyadh and invited his counterpart to visit Pakistan.
In his response to the President's address, the Chairman of CSC assured the FPCCI delegates that progress on constituting the Saudi side of the JBC would be undertaken within the next two to three months. The Chairman also requested details regarding investment opportunities in Pakistan which may be circulated among the interested parties. At the same time, he appreciated the quality of Pakistani meat, which he said was superior in taste to Australian meat. He also said that FPCCI's request for opening a liaison office in Riyadh would be deliberated after progress on the JBC. It was proposed during the meeting that the next meeting of the JBC may be held on the sidelines of the ninth Joint Ministerial Commission which is expected to be convened in Islamabad in September 2012.-PR
