An important meeting of Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) regarding its 'long march' against the likely restoration of Nato supply routes, was held at Idara-e Noor-e-Haq on Tuesday, which was presided by Jamaat-e-Islami's Karachi Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mahenti.
The meeting reviewed arrangements for the DPC-led long march especially the preparations for large public gatherings and processions. The meeting was informed that awareness camps would be established across the city on May 24-25 and 26. DPC leaders would visit the camps and address the gatherings.
The meeting was also informed that the DPC would observe May 25 (Friday) as protest day and demonstrations would be staged on public venues. The central leaders of the DPC would arrive in the city on May 26 and would hold an important meeting, which would be followed by a press briefing.
The meeting was told that a special committee to be led by Nasarullah Shaji had been constituted to monitor the arrangements for long march. Other members of the committee included JI's Deputy Chief Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman and Deputy General Secretary Muslim Pervez.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahenti said that restoration of Nato supply lines would be totally contrary to the aspirations and sentiments of the nation. The nation would keep their prestige and dignity high and would not allow the rulers to impose the decision only for the sake of a handful of US dollars. It was a matter of shame that the US and its allies were killing innocent Muslims while the Pakistani government was making all possible efforts to give a cover to the international killers, he said.
