Education is best means to promote egalitarian society: Kausar

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar, said that education is the best mean to promote an egalitarian society especially to convince and persuade youngsters to be adapted to the constructive norms of civic lives and prove them to be good citizens of the country.
The problems of terrorism and extremism in FATA, he added, deserve for special consideration where the miserably low ratio of literacy especially amongst female populace is one of the major causes of the difficulties. Addressing the 8th Convocation of Sarhad University of Science and Technology, an institution of private sector in Peshawar, on Wednesday, the Governor said the institutions like this should share the responsibilities of the government to promote educational facilities and contribute significantly to better future of the people of FATA. In all 1,900 graduates, five got M.Phil, one thousand were given masters and 800 achieved bachelors' degrees while amongst them thirty got gold medals for achieving distinctive positions in their respective disciplines.
"Let our coming generations must be free from ignorance and sickness and let they be availing better opportunities of learning," the Governor said. However, he pointed out, education is the sector where we cannot afford compromise on quality and there is a need to make extra efforts to ensure that our youth become good Muslims; Pakistanis and good human beings. "We must instill trust in our institutions for the national and international recognition as well and I assure every possible support and patronage in enabling all the seats of higher learning to achieve the desired goals", he remarked. The auspicious occasion of convocation, Barrister Masood Kausar said, offers an opportunity to refresh the resolve, commitment and promise to achieve the goals, which one has in ones mind towards ones future.
Congratulating the degree holders especially the award winners, the Governor said, the gold medals are more than the value of gold they carry because, it is the recognition of their abilities and successes. However, he reminded them that the real test of their capabilities will start when they would practically apply the knowledge and skills they had gained at the institution. He further advised them to be optimist, courageous, patient and tolerant and conscious to their role in the society. "Your constructive and productive contribution to promotion of your profession will itself be a real service to all those who matter in your lives", he said. Earlier, the President of the University, Brig: Javed Tipu (r) and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman highlighted the working as well as achievements of the university.
