The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday reserved its judgement in the Lieutenant General Khalid Naeem Lodhi (retd) case, who pleaded before the court against his termination as Secretary Defence on charges of gross misconduct. The court is likely to announce its verdict next week. Justice Muhammad Azim Khan Afridi resumed the hearing of the case filed by the former Secretary Defence.
Deputy Attorney General Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri in his arguments said that a contract employee had no right to file any writ against his termination under Article 199 of the Constitution of Pakistan. Therefore, he said, the pleas taken by the petitioner's counsel were not relevant to the case. He further argued that the allegations levelled by the petitioner as reasons behind his removal from the job were baseless. Therefore, he added, the court should dismiss Lodhi's plea. Lodhi was sacked by the government on January 11, 2012.
