KARACHI: Around 10 flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have faced 'Bird Strike' incidents during last 19 days.
According to details given by PIA spokesman, over 22 PIA aircraft reported 'Bird Strike' incidents during last seven months, of which, 12 such incidents were reported in June 2020 only.
Moreover, he said that following the poor waste management system especially at Karachi and Lahore where most of such incidents were reported, the national flag carrier had to bear an additional cost for the maintenance of its aircraft. As a result, the flight schedule is badly being affected.
Furthermore, he said PIA had made the CAA aware of its concerns over 'Bird Strike' incidents, adding CAA had not installed modern equipment to feed birds at any airport in the country. He requested the provincial governments to ensure proper arrangements for the disposal of offal of sacrificial animals during Eid in order to avoid any untoward incident.
