KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 142,303 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,558 tonnes of import cargo and 42,745 tonnes of export cargo including 7,025 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 99,558 tonnes comprised of 59,805 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,455 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,644 tonnes of DAP; 12,456 tonnes of wheat and 21,198 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 42,745 tonnes comprised of 32,059 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,986 tonnes of clinkers and 1,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,025 containers comprising of 4,289 containers import and 3,636 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,251 of 20’s and 1,487 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 32 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 914 of 20’s and 380 of 40’s loaded containers while 640 of 20’s and 661 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely CMA CGM Moliere, Kota Nilam, Straum, Chemroad Lily, Banglar Arjan, Unce Ilgaz, Star Omicron and Yu Jin Ace carrying containers, oil tankers. Wheat, fertilizer, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels viz. CMA CGM Moliere, Kota Nilam, Shiling, Chemroad Lily and Yu Jin Ace carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are four ships namely APL Chongqing, Wan Hai-613, Oriental Viola and Aal Kobe carrying containers, oil tanker and project cargo respectively to sail on Wednesday.

There are six vessels viz. Kalamoti Trader, Hyundai Platinum, MT Karachi, Chemroad Aqua, Liberty Promise and Tai Splendor carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle and Clinker respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while two vessels viz. Cosco Taicang and Xin Qing Dao carrying containers are expected due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 128,370 tonnes comprising 87,824 tonnes of import cargo and 40,546 tonnes of export cargo including 3,196 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 87,824 tonnes tonnes includes 34,450 tonnes of coal; 76 tonnes of LNG; 10,323 tonnes of furnace oil; 1,553 tonnes of palm oil; 3,617 tonnes of palm kernel; 14,314 tonnes of canola; 3,313 tonnes of chemical and 52,250 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 40,546 tonnes includes 40,546 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,196 containers comprising of 1,062 containers import and 2,134 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely GH Sky Beouty and Fuwarit carrying LNG and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, canola, LNG, furnace oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen vessels viz. Datong Yun, Global Rose, Kastro, Manta Asli, Valkyie, Msxt Astria, Than Binh-127, Tomson Gas, Gas Athena, White Purl, Gulf Coast, Leader and Al-Soor-II carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, chemical, cement, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There was one ship viz. Than Binh-127 carrying cement expected to take berth at Multi Purpose Terminal on Wednesday.

There are three ships namely Maersk Bentonville, Josephine Nyassa and CMA CGM Butterfly carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
