- The PM directed the Punjab government to initially enroll widows, transgenders, and all low-income families.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the Punjab government will soon provide health cards to everyone in Punjab in phases to bring about a revolution in the healthcare system of the country.
Addressing the Insaf Doctors Forum meeting on Wednesday, the PM said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has already agreed to provide the health card within a year in phases. He said when he suggested the same to Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, she was reluctant.
But, he added, he has asked her to provide health cards to everyone in Punjab in phases. The PM directed the Punjab government to initially enroll widows, transgenders, and all low-income families, and later cover the whole population within a year.
He said people would be able to avail medical treatment facilities at any designated private hospital. He further said the Sehat Insaf Card facility would also expand the private hospital network.
The PM also announced incentivizing the country’s pharmaceutical industry as its expansion would lead to lowering of medicine prices in the country.
