The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) is providing free education up to Matriculation level to 40,000 deserving students through 419 partner schools under its New School Programme (NSP) intended to promote gratis education in under-developed areas, Chairman of the foundation Raja Muhammad Anwar said on Tuesday.
The Punjab government launched the fourth phase of the expanded NSP in 22 selected districts for providing free education to 67,800 deserving students through 226 partner schools, he said.
He was addressing at an agreement signing ceremony of new schools entering into partnership with the PEF under NSP. Addressing the ceremony, Raja Anwar said that this programme would benefit 107,800 deserving students across the province. PEF provides monthly fees to students besides providing them textbooks, enabling them to continue their education up to Matriculation level. He maintained that NSP had proved to be very successful in eradicating illiteracy from the economically-deprived rural areas.
