ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Communication, Thursday, deferred the approval of National Highways Safety Ordinance, 2000 (The National Highways Safety Amendment Bill,2000). The parliamentary panel met under the chairmanship of Senator Prince Ahmed Omer Ahmedzai, here on Thursday.
The committee met for consideration of private member bill further to amend the National Highways Safety Ordinance, 2000 (The National Highways Safety Amendment Bill,2000) introduced by Senator Behramand Khan Tangi in the Senate on 6 January 2020. The bill was referred by the chairman Senate to the committee on 25th January 2021 for recommendation and report.
The chairman committee deferred discussion on the bill till the next meeting of the committee due to non-availability of mover, Senator Tangi. The committee meeting was attended by Senator Danesh Kumar, Senator Saifullah Abro, and officials from the Ministry of Communications, and the NHA.
