A Japanese delegation will visit Pakistan in October this year to assess investment possibilities and devise way and means to enhance bilateral trade between the two countries, Director of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Makoto Matsuda said on Thursday. Addressing members of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), he said that the delegation will visit Islamabad and Sialkot.
The delegation, he said, would also assess the scope of business collaboration in various fields with members of Sialkot Chamber. Makoto Matsuda said that the delegation will also discuss various aspects of trade and investment with top Pakistani officials in Islamabad. He said: "We consider Sialkot to be much safer than other parts of Pakistan."
President SCCI Naeem Anwar Qureshi said that the proposed visit of the Japanese delegation would help pave the way for improving bilateral trade between Pakistan and Japan. Naeem said that it was necessary for both countries to focus on broadening the scope of mutual co-operation and extend to areas of trade and investment, energy, infrastructure development and other sectors of interest.
Japan, he said, was one of the leading economic powers of the world and Japan owed its success to the promotion of small- and medium-scale enterprises. Deputy Director of Southwest Asian Division of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yasushi Nakagawa and Head of Economic Development section of the Embassy of Japan Naoaki Kamoshida also attended the function.
