Aimed at helping the youth realise the true potential of mobile communication technology in solving social challenges, Telenor Pakistan announced the second edition of Telenor Group's global initiative, the Telenor Youth Summit. The global Telenor Youth Summit will be held in December in Oslo, Norway in collaboration with the Nobel Peace Center and will also coincide with Nobel Peace Prize event. All 13 business units of Telenor Group across the world, including Telenor Pakistan, will be sending two delegates between the ages of 18 to 25 from their respective countries at the global summit to share their input and ideas towards bringing positive social change through the use of mobile communication and internet.
Last year, two young Pakistanis Saad Hamid and Awais Imran were selected from over 260 entries to represent Pakistan at the inaugural Telenor Youth Summit. Saad Hamid presented his initiative titled '60 second education project' while Awais Imran gathered the laurels of his peers through his idea 'Learning a new language using Mobile ICT'. Talking about the initiative, Atifa Asghar, Director Corporate Communications and Responsibility, Telenor Pakistan said, "The competition is in line with our ambition to bring Internet for All through which we are challenging the digital generation to use mobile communication technology to improve lives, drive growth and empower societies. The summit offers youth the opportunity to meet international leaders and opinions makers through sessions, workshops and other social activities at a global level."
Following last year's pattern, two participants from Pakistan will be selected through an activity which invites students and youth falling within the stipulated age bracket to submit their ideas around the theme of using internet and mobile communications for education, entrepreneurship, health, medicine and well-being of people in the country.-PR
