International Society for Prosthetic and Orthotics (ISPO) Pakistan in joint collaboration with Akbar Kare Institute (AkI), Peshawar observed "World Cerebral Palsy Day" on Friday. Cerebral palsy (CP) is a medical disorder which affects a person's ability to move and maintain balance and posture. CP is the most common disability in childhood. The number of CP children is 2.5 per 1000, given as the prevalence in the industrialised world.
Parents and their children having cerebral palsy were invited on the occasion. ISPO Pakistan team was represented by Ziaur Rehman, President ISPO Pakistan and AkI by Sarwar Iqbal, Senior Physiotherapist. Different games were performed by the children at this event. Ziaur Rehman and Sarwar Iqbal said that cerebral palsy is considered to be a non-life-threatening condition.
